AIPMT Opens The Gates To The Courses In Medical Colleges For Aspiring Doctors

Every student in the science stream in 12th standard or 10+2 exam is sure to be conversant with the medical entrance exams, particularly those who are into biology. They know that there are many entrances which are held for students after they have passed their 10+2 exams. But among the different exams, the ones which are very much sought by students are engineering and medical entrance exams. True to their popularity, millions of students are appearing in these after they finish their education in 12th with the subjects of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. Although both the streams are commonly appeared, the medical entrance exams are difficult because of the reason that there are fewer seats compared to the engineering seats in the country. But, even for the limited number of seats, there are many exams that are being conducted at different levels, among which the AIPMT is the most famous. Some of the entrance exams that are held for the medical aspirants are for institutes like AIIMS, JIPMER, etc. Most of the states have their own entrance exams which are conducted in combination with engineering and are labelled as joint entrance exams or common entrance exams. These tests are for the students of the particular state and allow admissions into the medical colleges of that state. So, for the students, to compete at the national level, there are few tests but because of the limited number of seats, these are quite competitive. Therefore, presently the test that allows the medical aspirants to find admissions in the maximum number of seats is that of AIPMT. This is an exam that is held every year in the month of April or May, so that the students who have recently appeared in their 10+2 exams can appear. And by this exam, they take admissions in MBBS and BDS streams. The seats in different government colleges in India are included under the admissions through this test and it is usually to the extent of 15%. Once the candidates have got their ranks, they are asked to attend the counselling in a central location, where they can select the college in which they would be taking admissions. By this method of counselling, the students can select the colleges based on different criteria, one of which is their ranks in AIPMT.
The students, who are interested for a medical course, can go for this entrance test of AIPMT because their probability of entering into the medical colleges of their liking is quite high. With a good rank, they can find admissions in the top medical colleges of the country and different states. But then, the competition is not easy because many students are appearing for this entrance test. Also, a lower rank will not allow them to get into a reputed college. Medical study is about the experience that one gains in the institute and the quality of education imparted. Having a degree only is not beneficial in the long run, which might be the case in other courses. So, students should take care to score a good rank in the AIPMT exam and help themselves build a better future.
