Top Jobs In Engineering Changing Focus Of Demand For These Jobs – 3 Views

By Rajnish Mehan

No other subject in the entire world has created such a furore as has the topic of engineering sciences. And this vastness is not only in the number of students going in for graduation in these technical fields but also in form of jobs in such an arena. In recent years these jobs are being found in almost every aspect of life. Those who have passed their bachelor degree in some of the said subjects or its allied branches are getting top jobs in the industry.

The range of the industries extends from factories and manufacturing units to the testing laboratories or quality control units. All of these jobs require the recruits to pass their graduation with BE or BTech degrees in a technical colleges. But the education doesn’t stop there. Higher degrees in engineering subjects can be obtained by studying in specialisation topics.

Some of the common engineering courses in the bachelor level are computer science, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, telecommunication and electronics, civil, biotechnology, and so on. Further the students can go for higher degrees of M Tech after finishing their bachelor’s courses and improve their prospects in the jobs and the future. The present day enthusiasm to study engineering is being attributed to the top engineering jobs that are provided to the engineering graduates. In the present world scenario, the technological jobs are mostly related to agriculture, biomedical, civil, chemical, electrical, electronics, etc. These jobs warrant quite high payments, in both government and private sectors.

With the prevalence of such jobs in the social structure, the students are picking up engineering subjects in their graduations and studying these subjects from various colleges in the country. The manner in which the jobs have influenced this trend of students selecting the technical colleges is probably explained by 3 important factors.

1. Technological subjects like electrical, mechanical, civil etc require physics and mathematics as a base topic on the basis of which the specialised subjects are taught. These subjects are interesting enough for those students who have a keen interest in mathematics and physics. Moreover, the standard of these subjects in the senior secondary levels is quite high these days. This allows the students entering into graduation in engineering to understand their subjects.

2. Highly paid jobs are a lure for every student due to which they toil during their formative years. Engineering jobs in every sector and industry have a potential of being highly paid. Be it in the government sector or the private industries, the pass outs from technical colleges are able to command a high pay, comparison to other recruits. This is encouraging a lot of students to aim for the technical courses by doing their BE and B Tech courses or studying higher specialised subjects later on.

3. High demand of these jobs has made the students hopeful of landing a job in some company or the other after finishing their education. They are therefore eyeing a seat in the engineering colleges. Also, the course is over in a short period of 4 years after which they are eligible for a number of jobs in plenty of organisations.

With opportunities galore, it is not less than a cyclic phenomenon where the jobs are increasing and the admissions are escalating. In the recent years, one of the most demanded subjects are those of engineering and plenty of qualified engineers are entering into the upper strata of social set up.
