Understanding Some Significant Changes In IIT JEE 2012

Cracking Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) is the dream of every Indian student. The reputation of the institutions even attracts students from various other parts of the world. Some students start preparing for the examination right after completing their higher secondary educations. A number of educational institutions also offer specialized coaching and tuition to the aspirants to crack IIT JEE in a more systematic and convenient way. However, the rules associated with annual IIT JEE examinations are frequently changed by the concerned authorities. If you are preparing for the examination schedules during the year 2012, it is very much important to understand the significant modifications done to the basic rules. Increase in Examination Fees Applicable for Boys: As per the revised examination fees rules applicable for IIT JEE 2012, the boys have to pay Rs 1,800 as examinations fees. Before the changes, the boys were required to pay Rs 1,000 as examination fees. So the modified examination fees structure will require the male applicants pay Rs 800 extra, while submitting the admission form. Examination Fees Waived Off for Girls: The IIT JEE board also changed the examination fee structure for the female applicants to encourage more girls to appear for this yearly examination of national repute. The examination fees are completely exempted for the girls, who are planning to apply for IIT JEE 2012. So if you are a girl and planning to appear for IIT JEE, no you can submit the application form without paying any fees. This initiative of the government is also expected to increase the number of girls appearing in IIT JEE 2012. Students are allowed to Carry OMR Sheets Home: Many students find it difficult to remember how they have answered to a specific question. The objective type questions uses in IIT JEE question papers also add to the difficulty of the applicants to identify their errors. But the students appearing for IIT JEE 2012 are allowed to keep a copy of the optic response sheet (OMR) with them. After submitting the original OMR, they can take home a copy of the original answer sheet. So you can now compare the OMR copy with the answer keys after their release. This change will be very much helpful for the IIT aspirants to identify their mistakes and prepare thoroughly for the next examination. Applicants are allowed to Mark OMR Reponses with Pen: The students appearing for IIT JEE 2012 are also allowed to mark the OMR responses using a pen. So you will not be required any longer to practice filling up dummy OMR sheets with a pencil. Now you can choose the convenient writing tool and response to the questions in a quicker and convenient way. The significance of these changes will vary from one applicant to another. For instance, the change in examination fees will affect the applicants based on their genders. At the same time, the options to use pens and carry copy of OMR sheets home will affect all IIT JEE aspirants irrespective of their gender and selection of examination center.
